Jimmy Chow, M.D., is a fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement surgeon, with a focus on soft-tissue preservation and rapid recovery. With advanced training in hip and knee arthroscopy, plus total joint replacement surgery, he provides comprehensive care for a wide range and severity of joint disorders, including:

  • Micro invasive total hip replacement, SuperPATH
  • Hip resurfacing
  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Less invasive patient-matched total knee replacement
  • Partial knee replacement
  • Knee arthroscopy
Dr. Chow received formal training at the New England Baptist Hospital, part of the Harvard Caregroup in Boston, where he completed the Otto E. AuFranc Fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery. Dr. Chow also completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery from the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Only Surgeon in Arizona to Perform SuperPATH® Tissue-preserving Hip Replacement Surgery
Dr. Chow is one of only five surgeons in the world — and the only surgeon in Arizona — to routinely perform the SuperPATH tissue-preserving hip replacement surgery procedure. Using cutting-edge technology with advanced surgical techniques, Dr. Chow can administer a total hip replacement without damaging muscles or tendons, or dislocating the hip during surgery. With minimal postoperative limitations, patients recover from surgery much more rapidly than traditional hip replacement and other minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Chow has been heavily involved in the overall development of the SuperPATH procedure, which combines two tissue-sparing techniques, PATH® and SUPERCAP™, for minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty. He has successfully performed more than 200 SuperPATH procedures, and is helping to train other physicians on this hybrid micro-superior technique. For more information, visit replacemyhip.com.

First Surgeon in Arizona to Perform MAKOplasty® Robotic Partial Knee Resurfacing Surgery
Dr. Chow is also the first surgeon in Arizona to offer the state-of-the-art robotic partial knee resurfacing procedure, MAKOplasty. For patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis or degenerative knee conditions, MAKOplasty helps relieve associated knee pain and restore knee function. Unlike total knee replacement (which replaces the entire knee joint), the MAKO robot enables Dr. Chow to accurately target only the damaged portion of a patient’s knee — leaving the healthy, unaffected portions intact. For more information on the MAKOplasty procedure, visit stlukesmedcenter.com.
